Is code 99205 correct for a new patient office visit, The new patient chief complaint is the new patient is here for hospital follow up for large ovarian mass that looks malignant. The patient states that she had mederate to severe pain left lower abdomen for about a week. This got worse and went to ER and was noted to have very large ovarian cyst, suspicious for cancer. Today she says she has pain 8 out of 10 when she lays on her left side. During the physical examine today a cystic mass noted in the mid abdomen and appears mildly tender, also reviewed data from ER which states the patient has huge complex ovarian cyst, suspicious for cancer. The office physician assessment is ovarian cyst, patient was given an rx for Norco for chronic pain. Plan for laparotomy and possible staging discussed based on frozen section.
