PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS Adenoid hypertrophy. POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS Adenoid hypertrophy. PRIMARY PROCEDURE ADENOIDECTOMY. PROCEDURE In the OR suite, we administered anesthesia to the patient via endotracheal tube, and prepped and draped in the usual standard fashion. We inserted a Crowe-Davis mouth gag into the oral cavity, inspected the palate and tonsils and suspended the palate with a rubber catheter passed through the right nostril. Following this, we used the mirror to visualize the adenoid pad and positioned an adenoid curet against the vomer. We were able to remove the adenoid pad without difficulty, and then packed the nasopharynx. Following this, we unpacked the nasopharynx, coagulated several bleeding sites with electrocautery and irrigated the nasopharynx and oral cavity. Finally, we released the Crowe-Davis gag. The patient tolerated the procedure without difficulty and was in stable condition upon transfer to the recovery room. ICD-10-PCS: _____
